Marc Serpa Francoeur is an Emmy nominated Azorean Canadian documentary filmmaker and co founder of Lost Time Media, alongside Robinder Uppal. His work focuses on social justice, accountability and contemporary political issues, combining investigative rigour with innovative storytelling formats.
His most recent documentary, Love in the Time of Fentanyl (2022), was co produced with ITVS and supported by the Sundance Institute. The film premiered at DOXA in Vancouver, where it won the main juried prize. It later had its United States premiere at DOC NYC, was broadcast on PBS Independent Lens, and received a nomination for Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary at the 2024 News and Documentary Emmy Awards.
Previously, the feature length interactive documentary The World in Ten Blocks (2016) premiered at Hot Docs and Sheffield DocFest before launching episodically in partnership with The Globe and Mail. The Head and the Hand (2018) premiered at Hot Docs and DOC NYC, where it was recognised as a leading contender in the Documentary Short category during awards season. In 2020, Lost Time Media released the CBC Docs Original No Visible Trauma, an investigation into police brutality and accountability in Calgary, which premiered at Vancouver International Film Festival and DOK.fest München.
Lost Time Media was recently selected for the Netflix supported Hot Docs Incubator programme.
