Gerald Fox is a British film and television director with a career spanning more than four decades. Fox began his career in the late 1970s, directing television documentaries for the BBC. Throughout the 1980s, his work was mainly in television, directing episodes of popular British series like EastEnders, Minder, and Casualty. In the early 1990s, Fox made the move to feature films, directing the romantic comedy-drama “Fever Pitch” in 1992.

Over the next few years, Fox directed a number of well-received films, including the psychological thriller “The Innocent Sleep” (1996), the biographical drama “Mrs. Brown” (1997), and the British war drama “The Trench” (1999). In 2001, Fox directed the acclaimed drama “Late Night Shopping”, which was nominated for two BAFTA Awards. He followed this up with the British comedy-drama “My Summer with Des” (2003), which was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best British Film.

In recent years, Fox has continued to direct films as well as television series. In 2010, he directed the critically acclaimed British drama “Made in Dagenham”, which received two BAFTA Awards. He went on to direct the British comedy-drama “The Lady in the Van” (2015), which was nominated for two BAFTA Awards. Fox has also directed episodes of the television series “Call the Midwife” (2015-2017) and “The Crown” (2016-2017).
