Vanessa Benitez is an award-winning director, writer, producer, and assistant director from San Diego, California. She is best known for her work on the television series "Jane the Virgin" and the feature film "The Big Sick."

Benitez started her career in the entertainment industry as an assistant director, working on a number of television shows and films. After gaining experience in the field, she decided to pursue directing. In 2014, she was accepted into the prestigious American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women, where she received formal training in directing for television and film.

In 2016, Benitez directed two episodes of the critically acclaimed television series “Jane the Virgin,” for which she won a DGA Award for Best Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series.
