Tomas Astudillo (Ecuador, 1985) is a director, producer, and director of photography. He directed the short film Solid Ocean in 2012. In 2015, his documentary Moments of Campaign had its world premiere in the International Competition at Visions du Réel.
Alongside his work as a director, Astudillo has worked extensively in the photography department on various films. He is also a producer of Panama, a feature film currently in development by Javier Izquierdo with Ostinato Films, as well as the documentary series Beyond the Summit.
Astudillo studied Film Photography at INSAS in Brussels, graduating with a BA in 2009, and later completed an MA in Creative Documentary at Grenoble 3 University in 2010. His work is characterised by a strong observational approach and a sustained interest in political and social realities.
