Stanislav Stavinov is a Russian film director best known for his work on the television series Stalingrad. Born in 1959, Stavinov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Cinematography in 1984.
He started his career working for the Mosfilm studio, directing short films and documentaries. In 1992, he made his feature film debut with the drama ‘The Bridge’. The film was well-received and earned him the Best Director Award at the Sochi International Film Festival.
In 1995, Stavinov directed the television historical drama Stalingrad, which was a great success in Russia as well as abroad. The series was broadcast in more than 50 countries and received numerous awards.
In 1999, he directed the feature film ‘The Road’, which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. The film was praised for its visual style and for its exploration of themes such as love, loyalty, and the consequences of war.
Stavinov’s most recent film, ‘The Dream’, was released in 2005. The film was a critical and commercial success, and earned him the Best Director Award at the Moscow International Film Festival.
