Sofia Haugan is an award-winning director, writer, and producer. She is best known for her work in independent films, documentaries, and television series.

Born in Oslo, Norway in 1975, Haugan grew up in a creative family, surrounded by music, literature, and art. She developed an early passion for film and television, and at the age of 16, she won a scholarship to study at the prestigious Norwegian Film School. After graduating, she worked as a script supervisor in a number of television and film productions.

In the late 90s, Haugan began her career as a director. Her debut feature film, “Olav og kongen” (1999), was a critical success and earned her numerous awards in Norway. The film was selected for the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival.

Since then, Haugan has gone on to direct a number of feature films, documentaries, and television series. She has worked with some of the top names in the industry, including the likes of Danny Boyle, Lars von Trier, and Michael Haneke.

Her work has received numerous awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Director for her 2008 feature film, “De første dråpene”. She has also been nominated for the prestigious BAFTA Awards three times.
