BIO

Rob Lemkin is a British filmmaker and founder of Old Street Films, renowned for his extensive work in investigative and historical documentaries. Over his career, he has produced and directed more than fifty films for major broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky, The History Channel and Arts & Entertainment. His award-winning documentaries have been featured in prominent British and international strands, exploring themes of politics, history, and social justice.

Lemkin has developed a particular focus on Asian history and geopolitics, directing acclaimed works such as *The Real Dr Evil* (BBC/A&E, 2003), *Who Really Killed Aung San?* (BBC2, 1997), *Malaya: The Undeclared War* (BBC2, 1998), *China: Handle with Care* (C4, 2001), and *Bearers of the Sword* (C4, 2002). His filmography also spans music and culture, including collaborations with artists like Nina Simone, Curtis Mayfield, Bobby Womack and Chet Baker, and projects such as *Ten Days That Shook Soho* (Channel 4, 1986) and *Viva Mandela!* (1990), narrated by Kenneth Kaunda.

From 2001 to 2005, Lemkin led an investigative unit for Channel 4 News, producing impactful reports on global and domestic issues ranging from Chinese human trafficking networks to corporate corruption and labour exploitation. His work has frequently provoked public debate and policy responses.

In 2009, Lemkin co-directed *Enemies of the People* with Thet Sambath, an internationally acclaimed investigation into the Cambodian genocide that won multiple awards, including at Sundance and IDFA, and was nominated for an Emmy. He continues to live in Oxford with his partner and their four children.
