Rebecca Sasse is a Brazilian film director, producer, and screenwriter best known for her work in the critically acclaimed films ‘Agua Limpa’ and ‘O Caminho das Nuvens’.

Rebecca was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1975. She studied filmmaking at the Escola Superior de Cinema in São Paulo and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While studying, she developed a passion for documentary filmmaking and made her own short films.

In 2001, Rebecca made her feature film debut with the critically acclaimed ‘Agua Limpa’. The film was praised for its naturalistic style and realistic portrayals of life in modern Brazil. It was a box office success and launched Rebecca’s career as a director.

In 2006, Rebecca released her second feature film ‘O Caminho das Nuvens’. The film tells the story of a young boy’s journey of discovery as he travels across the Amazon basin in search of his father. The film was praised for its stunning visuals and its portrayal of the struggles of the inhabitants of the region.

In addition to her work as a director, Rebecca has also produced and written several films. Her credits include the acclaimed ‘Vidas Paralelas’, ‘Vidas Sem Fim’, and ‘Bem-vindo ao Mundo’. She also served as an associate producer on the award-winning drama ‘Tudo o Que Você Quiser’.

Rebecca has won numerous awards for her work, including the Best Director award at the Moscow International Film Festival for ‘Agua Limpa’ and the Best Original Screenplay award at the Tribeca Film Festival for ‘Vidas Paralelas’.

Rebecca is currently working on her next project, ‘As Aventuras do Rei do Mato’, which is set in the Amazon rainforest and stars Brazilian actors Wagner Moura and Caio Blat. The film is set for release in 2021.
