Rebecca Sasse is a Brazilian film director, producer, and screenwriter best known for her work in the critically acclaimed films ‘Agua Limpa’ and ‘O Caminho das Nuvens’.
Rebecca was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1975. She studied filmmaking at the Escola Superior de Cinema in São Paulo and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While studying, she developed a passion for documentary filmmaking and made her own short films.
In 2001, Rebecca made her feature film debut with the critically acclaimed ‘Agua Limpa’. The film was praised for its naturalistic style and realistic portrayals of life in modern Brazil. It was a box office success and launched Rebecca’s career as a director.
In 2006, Rebecca released her second feature film ‘O Caminho das Nuvens’. The film tells the story of a young boy’s journey of discovery as he travels across the Amazon basin in search of his father. Rebecca is currently working on her next project, ‘As Aventuras do Rei do Mato’, which is set in the Amazon rainforest and stars Brazilian actors Wagner Moura and Caio Blat. The film is set for release in 2021.
