Phil Wall is an Australian-born director and producer. He was born in Sydney in 1974 and raised in a small rural community. He attended Sydney University and graduated with a degree in film and television in 1998.

He began his career as an assistant director in the television industry, working on shows such as Home and Away and Blue Heelers. After working in the television industry for a few years, he decided to pursue a career in feature films.

His first feature was a low-budget comedy called "Road Trip". The film received mixed reviews but was successful enough to give him the opportunity to make a bigger budget film, "The King of the Hill". This film was a critical success and established Phil as an up-and-coming director.
