Paulo Carneiro is a Brazilian film director and screenwriter. He was born in the city of São Paulo in 1983 and grew up in the south of Brazil. He studied at the Federal University of Santa Catarina and later at the University of São Paulo, where he earned his degree in Cinema.

Carneiro has a passion for telling stories. He first gained recognition for his debut feature film, "The Other Side of the Street" (2008), which was critically acclaimed and won him a Cannes Film Festival award. He then went on to direct several other films, including "The Possibility of an Island" (2009) and "The Way He Looks" (2014). His films have earned him numerous awards, including the Berlin International Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for "The Way He Looks".

Carneiro has become known for his unique visual style, which he developed from his studies in painting and design.
