Paula Gomes is a Brazilian film director and screenwriter. She is best known for her award-winning films "The Two of Us" (2013) and "The Scarlet Ibis” (2018).

Gomes was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1983. She was raised in a middle-class family and graduated from the University of São Paulo with a degree in filmmaking. She started her career as a director in 2006 with the short film "A New Life", which earned her several awards at festivals around the world.

In 2009, Gomes directed her first feature-length film, "The Two of Us", which won the Best Feature Film Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival. The film follows the story of two women, who are both struggling with the same issue: the search for identity.

In 2011, Gomes wrote and directed her second feature-length film, "The Scarlet Ibis". This film explores the stories of a young couple living in a small town in Brazil and their struggles to find their place in the world. The film was critically acclaimed and won numerous awards, including Best Feature Film at the São Paulo International Film Festival.

In 2016, Gomes directed the feature-length documentary, "The River Is Everywhere". The film chronicles the life of the Tapajós River in Brazil and its impact on the lives of the people living in the area. The film was nominated for Best Documentary at the International Documentary Film Festival in Lisbon.

Gomes has become one of the most acclaimed directors in Brazil. Her films have been screened at festivals across the world and have won numerous awards, including the Best Feature Film Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival.

Gomes is also an outspoken advocate for social causes, particularly those related to environmental protection. She is an avid supporter of the preservation of the rainforest and the protection of animal rights.
