Morvarid Peyda is an Iranian film director and scriptwriter. She is best known for her feature films including 'The Fish and The Red Balloon', 'Garden of the Dead', 'Silence', 'The Last Scene' and 'Snow'.

Peyda was born in Tehran in 1975. She studied film and television production at the University of Tehran, graduating in 1998. After graduation, she worked as a scriptwriter and director for various television networks and production companies in Iran.

In 2004, Peyda made her feature film debut with 'The Fish and The Red Balloon'. The film follows the story of a young girl and her family as they struggle to cope with life in a small village in Iran. The film was a critical success, earning Peyda the Best Director award at the Fajr International Film Festival in 2004.

In 2006, Peyda directed the drama 'Garden of the Dead'. The film follows a young boy as he deals with the death of his mother. The film was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.

In 2008, Peyda directed and wrote 'Silence', which tells the story of a deaf and mute man who is trying to cope with his life in a small village. The film was praised for its sensitive portrayal of deafness and was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
