Mark Aitken is a Scottish director and producer from Edinburgh, Scotland. He has been involved in television and film since the early 2000s.
Aitken began his career as an assistant editor at the BBC in Glasgow, but quickly ascended to become a producer at Channel 4. After leaving the BBC, Aitken moved to London, where he established his own production company, Mark Aitken Productions.
Aitken’s career quickly took off, and his work has been honored with several awards, including a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Scotland award for his feature film, Small Faces. He also received a Scottish Bafta for his documentary, Scotland’s Secret Shame.
Aitken has directed several feature films, including Fish & Chips, The Dead Outside, and The Unkindness Of Ravens. He also directed several episodes of the popular BBC television series, Doctor Who.
In addition to his work as a director, Aitken is also a successful producer. He was the executive producer of the BBC’s My Home series, and of the Channel 4 drama series, The Book Group. He also produced the BBC’s drama series, Lip Service.
Aitken is currently working on several projects, including the feature film, The Free Man, which is currently in post-production. He is also developing several other films and television series.
