Maija Blafield is an award-winning film and television director who has worked on projects for networks such as HBO, CBS, ABC, NBC, Nickelodeon, and the BBC.

Maija was born in Helsinki, Finland, and grew up in a family of filmmakers. She was raised in both Finland and the United States, where she attended the American Film Institute in Los Angeles and received her Master’s degree in Film directing.

Maija’s directorial debut was with the feature film “The House on Cherry Street” which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2004. The film went on to receive several awards, including the Best Film Award at the Helsinki International Film Festival.

Since then, Maija has gone on to direct for both television and film. She has helmed episodes of popular television shows such as “New Girl”, “Modern Family”, and “Grey’s Anatomy”. Her work on “Grey’s Anatomy” earned her a Directors Guild of America nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Drama Series.

Maija has also directed several feature films, including the critically acclaimed “Leaving Normal” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She has also been involved in numerous documentaries such as “The Price of Freedom” which was nominated for an Academy Award.

Maija is also well-known for her work on music videos. She has directed videos for artists such as Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera.
