Luisa Homem is a Portuguese director, screenwriter and producer whose work has been featured in numerous festivals around the world. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1979, Homem began her career in the film industry soon after graduating from the University of Lisbon with a degree in film studies.

Her first professional directing gig was for a short film titled "Cidades Sem Nome" (Cities Without Names) which was released in 2007. This film was selected to compete at numerous film festivals around the world, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, Homem has gone on to direct a number of feature films, documentaries, and television series.

Her feature film debut was "O Jardim dos Cinco Sentidos" (The Garden of Five Senses), which was released in 2014. The film was a critical and commercial success, and was nominated for seven awards at the Portuguese Academy of Film.
