Kyle Petty is an American professional stock car racing driver, team owner, and television commentator. He is the son of legendary NASCAR driver Richard Petty and the father of current NASCAR driver Adam Petty. Kyle Petty began racing in 1979 and competed in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series from 1979 to 2008. He is most famous for his storied racing career, which includes seven career wins, as well as several other notable accomplishments.

Born in Randleman, North Carolina, Kyle Petty was raised in a family of racers. His father, Richard Petty, was a seven-time NASCAR champion and his grandfather, Lee Petty, was a three-time champion. He began racing at the age of 18 and soon became a rising star in the sport. In 1979, he made his debut in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. He went on to compete in 829 races over the course of his career, winning seven times and earning thirty-nine top five finishes and ninety-one top ten finishes. He also earned nine poles and won $11.3 million in winnings.

In addition to his racing career, Petty has also served as a television commentator, team owner, and philanthropist. In 1994, he began appearing as a regular analyst on TNT's coverage of NASCAR races. In 1995, he formed his own team, Kyle Petty Enterprises, which ran in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He also established the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, an annual motorcycle ride that raises money for children's charities.

In 2008, Petty retired from racing and began working full-time as a television analyst. He currently serves as a co-host on the NASCAR RaceDay pre-race show, as well as a color commentator for NASCAR on TNT. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010 and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998.
