Krzysztof Kaczmarek is a Polish director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He is best known for his films “The Last Family” and “The Art of Loving.”
Kaczmarek was born in 1975 in Warsaw, Poland. He studied film at the Film School in Lodz and graduated in 2001. After graduating, he worked as a cinematographer and assistant director on several films. In 2006, he wrote and directed his first feature film, “The Last Family.” The film was a critical success and won numerous awards, including the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
Kaczmarek’s follow-up feature, “The Art of Loving” (2007), was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film follows a young woman’s journey to understanding her sexuality and the power of love. It was praised for its sensitive portrayal of sexuality and its exploration of female desire.
Kaczmarek has also directed several documentaries, including “The Empty House” (2009), which follows two siblings living in a run-down apartment in Warsaw. The film won the Grand Prix at the 2009 International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.
Kaczmarek’s most recent feature film, “The Butler” (2013) was nominated for two Golden Lions at the Venice Film Festival. The film follows a butler who works for a wealthy family in Poland.
