Kathy Herndl is an award-winning director, producer, and writer. She is best known for her work on the popular television series The Office and the critically acclaimed film The Dark Knight. Herndl was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 8, 1977. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she earned a degree in film studies.

Herndl's career in the entertainment industry began in 1999, when she wrote, directed, and produced her first short film, The Good Eye. The film was accepted into the Sundance Film Festival, which marked the beginning of her successful career.

In 2004, Herndl was hired to direct several episodes of The Office. She has since directed some of the show's most popular episodes, including the season three finale, "The Job".
