Kasim Abid is an award-winning director, writer and producer. He has directed a number of feature films, documentaries, television series and commercials.
Kasim was born in Iraq and raised in the U.S. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Film Production. He started his career in the entertainment industry as an assistant director on a feature film. He then went on to direct a number of short films, commercials, and music videos.
In 2010, Kasim directed his first feature film, The War Within, which was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival. The film won several awards, including Best Director at the LA Film Festival and Best International Feature at the Valladolid International Film Festival.
Kasim then directed the feature film I Am Nasrine, which was nominated for a BAFTA Award and won the Grand Jury Prize at the London International Film Festival. He followed this up with the feature documentary, The House of My Fathers, which was nominated for an Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category.
Kasim has also directed a number of television series, including the critically acclaimed series Baghdad Central, which won an Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. He also directed the series Baghdad Central: The Long Road Home, which was nominated for two Emmy Awards.
Kasim is currently developing several feature films and television series. He is also in the process of writing a feature-length script.
