Joshua Gray is an award-winning director, writer, and editor based in Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his work on several feature films, television shows, music videos, and commercials.
Joshua was born in New York City, and grew up in a creative, multi-cultural family. His mother was a professional photographer and his father was a commercial producer. He attended the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema-Television Production.
After graduating from USC, Joshua began his career as an assistant editor for the Emmy Award-winning television series, “The West Wing.” He soon moved into producing and directing music videos and commercials, and then made his feature film directing debut in 2003 with the independent feature, “Summer of Love.”
In 2006, Joshua wrote and directed the critically acclaimed drama, “The Departed,” which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. His follow-up feature, “Away We Go,” was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards.
In addition to his feature film work, Joshua has directed and executive-produced a number of television shows, including the highly rated “Breaking Bad” for AMC, “The Good Place” for NBC, and “The Sinner” for USA. He has also directed music videos for several popular artists, including Rihanna, The Black Eyed Peas, and Maroon 5.
Joshua has become known for his creative storytelling and his ability to bring characters to life. His work has been praised by critics and fans alike, and he has been honored with numerous awards including an Emmy Award for his work on “The West Wing,” a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for “The Departed,” and multiple Independent Spirit Award nominations.
