José Filipe Costa is a critically acclaimed Portuguese director, writer, and producer, best known for his work on the award-winning film “The Garden of Eden.” Costa has worked on films, television, and theater productions throughout his career, earning numerous awards and recognition for his work.

Born in Portugal in 1976, Costa attended the University of Porto and studied film and television. After graduating, he moved to Lisbon and began working as a production assistant on television and film projects. He quickly moved up to become a director, writing and directing his own short films.

In 2005, Costa made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed drama “The Garden of Eden.” The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was a huge success, garnering numerous awards and recognition. The film also marked the start of his successful collaboration with actor Ricardo Trêpa.

Since then, Costa has worked on a number of critically acclaimed films, including “The Strange Case of Angelica” (2007), “The Consul of Bordeaux” (2008), and “The Consul of Sodom” (2010). He has also directed episodes for various television series, most notably “The Line” (2012).

Costa has also worked extensively in theater, directing plays for companies such as the National Theater of Portugal and the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos.
