Jairo Boisier is a renowned film director, producer, and screenwriter from Chile. He was born on October 8, 1967 in Santiago, Chile. He is the son of the renowned Chilean writer and poet, Luis Boisier.

Jairo began his film career as an actor in the early 1980s. He soon moved to directing and producing, and his first feature was the thriller "El Secreto del Agua" (The Secret of Water), which was released in 1989.

Since then, he has directed several films, including "El Bucle" (The Loop) in 1992, "Cuentos de la Lluvia" (Tales of the Rain) in 1997, "La Nona" (Grandmother) in 1999, and "La Noche de los Lápices" (The Night of the Pencils) in 2002. He has also produced and written a number of films.

In addition to filmmaking, Jairo is also an accomplished author. He has written several books, including "El Libro de los Amigos" (The Book of Friends) in 2003 and "El Libro de las Mujeres" (The Book of Women) in 2005. He has also penned several short stories and poems.

Jairo was awarded the Grand Prix at the San Sebastian International Film Festival in 1994 for his film "El Bucle". He was also nominated for a Goya Award for Best Director in 1998 for "La Nona".

Jairo continues to be active in filmmaking to this day. He is currently working on a new feature film, "El Inmortal" (The Immortal). The film is set to be released in 2021.
