Isabel Sáez is a Spanish director, producer and screenwriter based in Madrid. She has directed and produced several award-winning films, documentaries and television series.
Sáez was born in Madrid in 1976. She studied film and communications at the Complutense University of Madrid and went on to complete a degree in film direction from the University of Navarra.
In 1997, Sáez made her directorial debut with the short film "José y el Muerto" ("Joseph and the Dead"). The film was selected for the San Sebastián International Film Festival and won numerous awards, including the Golden Biznaga at the Malaga Film Festival.
In 2006, Sáez directed her first feature film, "La Tostadora" ("The Toaster"). The film was selected for the Official Selection at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and won the Silver Biznaga for Best Actress.
In 2013, Sáez directed "La Noche De Los Deseos" ("The Night of Wishes"), a documentary about the life and work of a group of Spanish artists in the 1960s. The film was widely acclaimed and won numerous awards, including the Best Documentary award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
In 2015, Sáez directed "El Despertar De Las Hormigas" ("The Awakening of the Ants"), a feature film about a woman's search for her lost daughter. The film was selected for the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Golden Biznaga for Best Actress at the Malaga Film Festival.
Sáez has also directed several television series, including "El Barco" ("The Boat"), which was nominated for an International Emmy Award in 2013.
Sáez is a member of the Spanish Association of Film Directors and the Spanish Film Academy. Her work has been featured in numerous international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival.
