Giovanni Giaretta is an Italian director, producer, musician and composer who has been making films since the early 1980s. He is best known for his work in the horror and fantasy genres.
Born in 1965 in Brescia, Italy, Giaretta began his film career by making short films with friends in the early 1980s. He went on to become a film editor, working on a variety of projects in the Italian film industry. After making his directorial debut in 1989 with the short film “The Last Day of Summer”, Giaretta gained recognition within the Italian film community for his unique style and approach to filmmaking.
In the early 1990s, Giaretta began to make feature-length films, beginning with the horror film “The Night of the Living Dead” in 1991. He followed this up with the critically acclaimed “Darkness in the Heart” in 1994, which was nominated for several awards.
