Eva la Cour is a Danish film and television director and producer who has been working in the film and television industry since the late 1990s. She is best known for her work on the television series ‘The Killing’ and ‘Borgen’ as well as her feature films ‘Smoke’ and ‘Dear Wendy’.

La Cour began her career in the late 1990s, working as a production assistant on various television and film projects. She quickly progressed to become a production manager and then a production coordinator, working on projects such as ‘The Idiots’ and ‘Dogme 95’.

In 2004, La Cour made her directorial debut with the short film ‘Smoke’. The film was well-received, winning multiple awards and earning her a nomination for Best Short Film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This success led to her being offered the opportunity to direct episodes of the popular Danish television drama ‘The Killing’. She directed two episodes of the show in 2011 and 2012.

In 2012, La Cour directed her first feature film, ‘Dear Wendy’, which was written by Lars von Trier. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was critically acclaimed. She then went on to direct episodes of the Danish political drama ‘Borgen’, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Drama Director in 2013.
