Erin Kokdil is a director, writer, and editor based in Los Angeles, California. Her work has been featured in festivals around the world, including the Tribeca Film Festival, the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, and the International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand.
Erin was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She graduated with a degree in film and television from Istanbul Bilgi University. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in film and television.
Erin’s directorial debut was a short film called 'Lazy Sunday', which was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival in 2005. Since then, she has directed five feature films and numerous short films, documentaries, and music videos. Her most recent feature film, 'The Crossing', premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.
Erin is a passionate storyteller, and her films explore the complexities of human relationships, identity, and the search for home. Her films often take place in Turkey, the country she left behind.
In addition to her work in film, Erin is a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California. She is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Erin is currently developing several new feature film projects, including a feature documentary about the Armenian genocide. She is also developing a feature narrative about a Turkish immigrant in the U.S.
Erin’s work often focuses on themes of identity, displacement, and the search for home. Through her films, she hopes to shed light on the complexities of the human experience.
