BIO

Erika Sanchez is an award-winning filmmaker, director, and producer from Mexico City. Sanchez studied film at the prestigious Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City, where she honed her skills as a director and cinematographer.

Sanchez made her directorial debut with the short film “Tiempo Muerto” in 2011, which won Best Short Film at the Morelia International Film Festival. She was the youngest female director to win this award.

In 2014, she released her feature film debut, “La Dama de Negro” (The Lady in Black). The film was well received by critics and went on to win numerous awards, including Best Director at the Mexico City International Film Festival and Best Cinematography at the Guadalajara International Film Festival.

In 2016, Sanchez made her first foray into television, directing the series “El Corazón de la Cumbia” (The Heart of the Cumbia). The show was critically acclaimed and won numerous awards, including Best TV Series at the Mexico City International Film Festival.

In 2018, Sanchez directed the feature film “Todos los Hombres Soñaban” (All Men Dream), which was praised by critics and won Best Picture at the Morelia International Film Festival.

In addition to her work as a director, Sanchez is also a producer, having produced the award-winning films “El Cielo” (The Sky) and “El Violin” (The Violin).

Sanchez is currently working on her next project, a feature film that will explore the themes of immigration and identity. Her work has been praised for its powerful storytelling, beautiful visuals, and unique approach to filmmaking.
