BIO

Ella Raidel is an independent filmmaker and director who has created a unique body of work that showcases her unique vision and storytelling. She was born in Vienna, Austria, and raised in the city’s vibrant and diverse cultural landscape. Raidel grew up surrounded by music, art, and literature. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Vienna where she studied theatre and film.

In 2006, Raidel was accepted into the prestigious Berlinale Talent Campus, a year-long program that fosters and mentors new talent in the film industry. It was here that she was able to create her first short film, The Appointment, which earned her recognition in the international film community.

Following her success at the Berlinale Talent Campus, Raidel moved to Los Angeles, California, where she pursued a career in filmmaking. She worked on a variety of projects, including commercials, music videos, and short films, all of which received acclaim.

In 2012, Raidel wrote and directed her first feature film, In Bloom. The film tells the story of two teenage girls coming of age in a small town in Austria. The film was a critical and commercial success, receiving numerous awards and accolades, including the Audience Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Since then, Raidel has gone on to direct several feature films, including The White Crow (2018), which starred Academy Award-nominated actor Ralph Fiennes. Her latest film, The Ground Beneath My Feet (2019), was selected for the official competition at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival.

In addition to her feature film work, Raidel has become a sought-after director for television and commercial projects. In 2020, she directed the critically acclaimed series The Innocents for Netflix.

Throughout her career, Raidel has sought to create meaningful and powerful stories that challenge the status quo and provoke thought and discussion. Her unique vision and passion for storytelling have made her a respected and admired filmmaker.
