Daniele Rugo is an Italian director and cinematographer from Parma, Italy. He is best known for his work on the television series “Gomorrah,” “Romanzo Criminale” and “Maltese – Il Romanzo del Commissario”.

Rugo began his career in 2006 as a cinematographer for the television series “Romanzo Criminale”. He was then asked to direct the second season in 2008. His work on this series earned him a nomination for the Globo d'Oro award for best television series director.

Rugo then began working on “Gomorrah”, a crime drama set in the Italian mafia. He was the assistant director for season one and then became the director for the following three seasons. His work on “Gomorrah” earned him an International Emmy nomination for best director in 2014.
