Daniel Melguizo is a Spanish director, screenwriter and producer. He was born in Madrid in 1974. He is best known for his work in the films 'No Rest for the Wicked' (2009) and 'The Girl and the Beast' (2018).

Melguizo studied at the University of Madrid, where he obtained a degree in audiovisual communication. He went on to study film directing at the prestigious ECAM (Escuela de Cinematografía y del Audiovisual de la Comunidad de Madrid). After graduation, he began his career directing short films and commercials.

In 2009, Melguizo made his feature film debut with 'No Rest for the Wicked'. The dark comedy follows two criminals as they attempt to rob a bank. The film was met with critical acclaim, earning Melguizo a Goya Award for Best New Director.

In 2012, Melguizo wrote and directed the horror film 'The Night of the Virgin'. The movie follows a young man who finds himself in a bizarre situation while attending a New Year's Eve party. The film was praised for its inventive story and Melguizo's direction.

In 2018, Melguizo directed his biggest film to date, 'The Girl and the Beast'. This fantasy adventure stars two young actors, and tells the story of a young girl who must save a magical kingdom from an evil beast. The movie was a huge success, and was nominated for Best Film at the Goya Awards.

Aside from his film work, Melguizo is an active member of the Spanish film industry. He is a regular contributor to several film festivals and industry seminars. He is also a member of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences.
