Angela Christlieb is an award-winning director, producer, and screenwriter. Her work has appeared on television, in film, and in the virtual reality space.
Christlieb was born in Germany and raised in Toronto, Canada. She studied film and video production at Ryerson University and graduated with honors in 2004. She then went on to become a director, working on music videos, short films, and documentaries.
In 2007, Christlieb directed her first feature film, Café, which premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival and went on to win several awards including the Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival. The film was also chosen as part of the Official Selection at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In 2011, Christlieb wrote and directed the feature film, The Day I Died. This film won the Best Film Award at the Montreal International Documentary Festival and the Audience Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Christlieb has also directed several television series and movies including the drama series, The Listener, and the horror-thriller, The Possession of Michael King.
In addition to her work in film and television, Christlieb has also ventured into the virtual reality space, directing the short film, “The Sun Ladies VR”. This film was chosen as part of the Official Selection at the Venice Film Festival and was a winner of the Best Virtual Reality Award at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Christlieb is known for her unique use of visuals and sound to tell stories and her ability to create powerful and emotional moments. She is committed to creating films that explore themes of identity, relationships, and the human condition.
