Seth Kramer



Seth Kramer is an American film director, producer, and writer who is best known for his documentary films. He is the co-founder of Ironbound Films, a production company based in New York City.

Kramer was born in Livingston, New Jersey, and grew up in the nearby town of Short Hills. He earned a degree in English from Brown University, then went on to pursue a master's degree in film production from the University of Southern California.

He began his career in the film industry as a production assistant for the acclaimed film, The Last Temptation of Christ, directed by Martin Scorsese. After that experience, he worked for several years as a freelance editor on a variety of documentaries and narrative films.

Kramer's first feature-length documentary was The Linguists (2008), which he co-directed with his Ironbound Films partner, Daniel A. Miller. The film follows two linguists who travel to Siberia and India to document languages on the brink of extinction. The Linguists won numerous awards, including a Special Jury Prize at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

Kramer's next project, The New Recruits (2010), explores the lives of U.S. military veterans who return home from war and struggle to find meaningful work. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and went on to win numerous awards, including Best Documentary at the San Francisco International Film Festival.

Kramer's most recent film, The Whale (2020), is an emotional story about a young humpback whale who, despite its physical disability, learns to survive and thrive in the wild. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize.

Kramer has also produced and directed numerous television documentaries, including the Emmy Award-winning series, The Warriors of Liberty City (2018).

Kramer is currently in production on his next feature-length documentary, which is expected to be released in 2021. He is also developing a narrative feature and has several other documentary projects in the works.

Throughout his career, Kramer has been committed to telling stories that explore the human condition and shed light on neglected and marginalized communities. He has been praised for his ability to craft meaningful, powerful stories that are both entertaining and educational.
