Sebastián Moreno is a Chilean documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. Between 1989 and 1992, he studied Audiovisual Communication at the School of Arts and Communication (ARCOS) in Santiago. He later travelled to Cuba, where he completed advanced courses in cinematography at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in San Antonio de los Baños. From 1996 to 1998, he pursued studies in Anthropology, enriching his understanding of human stories and complementing his documentary practice.
He began his career as a director of photography in documentary cinema before making his directorial debut in 2006 with La Ciudad de los Fotógrafos (The City of Photographers), an epic film about photography during the Pinochet dictatorship. The film received widespread critical acclaim and won multiple awards at international festivals, establishing Moreno as one of the leading voices in Chilean documentary filmmaking.
