BIO

Mina Keshavarz (b. 1984) is an award winning Iranian documentary filmmaker and producer whose work explores social and political issues through personal narratives. Her films include Unwelcome in Tehran (2012), Profession: Documentarist (2014), Braving the Waves (2016), The Art of Living in Danger (2020), and Phobos (2023).

Her documentaries have premiered at major international festivals including CPH:DOX, IDFA, Thessaloniki, Busan International Film Festival, Sheffield DocFest, Tribeca, and the London Film Festival. Over the years her work has received more than ten international awards. The Art of Living in Danger won the Best Documentary Film award at the Busan International Film Festival in 2020 and was longlisted for the Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary in 2021.

Keshavarz also produced Fish Eye, directed by Amin Behroozzadeh, which premiered at Visions du Réel in 2020. The project previously received the Best Film in Progress Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2019 and was nominated for Best International Documentary at DocPoint Film Festival in Finland, before screening at more than twenty film festivals worldwide.

She is a member of the Documentary Association of Europe and European Women in Audiovisual. Keshavarz is an alumna of Berlinale Talents, HotDocs Emerging Docs Accelerator Lab, EsoDoc, and the Tribeca Film Institute. She has also participated in the Nipkow Film Residency in Berlin, Berlin Air Film Residency, and Cité Internationale des Arts, and is currently a resident at ADK in Berlin.
