BIO

Mary Hewey is an acclaimed American film director, producer, and screenwriter, best known for her debut feature film “The Road That Leads Home”. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she was exposed to the entertainment industry from a very young age, and knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in filmmaking.

Hewey attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she majored in Film and Television Production. She graduated with honors and went on to direct her first feature film, “The Road That Leads Home”, which premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. The film won the Audience Award at TIFF, and was released theatrically to critical acclaim.

Since then, Hewey has continued to direct and produce films, including the romantic comedy “Love & Other Things”, the drama “The Last Days of Summer”, and the family drama “The Good Lie”. She has also directed and produced several short films, including the award-winning “My Sister’s Keeper”.

Hewey is a frequent collaborator of acclaimed director and producer Steven Spielberg, and is currently producing a feature film project with him for Amblin Entertainment. She is also developing a television series for Amazon Studios, set to premiere in 2021.

Hewey is a passionate advocate for women in the entertainment industry, and she often speaks and writes about her experiences as a female filmmaker. She is a mentor to aspiring filmmakers, and is a strong supporter of gender equality in Hollywood.
