BIO

Leslie Neale is a British film director and writer, best known for her work in television and feature films. She has directed a number of award-winning projects, including the BAFTA-nominated ‘Tulip Fever’.

Neale was born in London in 1974, and grew up in the city. She studied Film & Television Production at the University of Westminster, graduating in 1997.

Neale began her career as a script reader for the BBC, and went on to work as a production assistant on ‘Top of the Pops’. She then joined the independent production company Tiger Aspect, where she spent three years as an assistant director.

Neale’s first TV directorial credit was for the BBC series ‘Spooks’ in 2002. She went on to direct episodes of ‘Skins’, ‘Misfits’, and ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’.

In 2008, Neale made her feature film debut with ‘Tulip Fever’. The movie starred Judi Dench, Cara Delevingne, and Alicia Vikander, and was nominated for two BAFTAs. Neale went on to direct the romantic comedy ‘What’s Your Number?’ in 2011.

In recent years, Neale has worked with the BBC on a number of projects, including ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘The A Word’, and ‘The Split’.

Neale is currently working on the upcoming feature film ‘How to Stop a Recurring Dream’, which is due for release in 2021. She is also developing a TV series with the BBC.
