Kristóf Kovács was born in 1974 in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Miskolc and completed cultural manager training at János Vitéz University in 1999.
He began his professional career working as a cultural anthropologist, conducting field research that later became the foundation of his documentary projects. This anthropological approach is reflected in his close observation of communities and social dynamics.
His documentary Full of Grease received the Best Director Award in the documentary section at the 39th Hungarian Film Week and was selected for several international festivals. Men with Balls marked his first documentary produced as an international co production, further establishing his profile within European documentary cinema.
