Katia Chapoutier is a French filmmaker and director best known for her award-winning documentaries and feature films. Born in Paris in 1971, she attended the prestigious IDHEC film school in Paris and graduated in 1994.

Katia's career began with short films such as “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg” (1996), “Les Pieds Nus” (1998), and “Jours de Pluie” (2002). These films won several awards at international film festivals. Her feature film debut came with “Un Amour de Jeunesse” (2009), which received critical acclaim and several prizes.

Katia's documentaries have been widely acclaimed. Her documentary “The Story of the Weeping Camel” (2003) won a Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award. Her 2013 documentary “The Missing Picture” won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Katia is also well known for her long-term collaborations with director Claire Denis. She has worked as an assistant director on several of Denis's films, including “Trouble Every Day” (2001), “35 Shots of Rum” (2008) and “White Material” (2009). She also collaborated with Denis on the feature film “Let the Sunshine In” (2017).

In addition to her work in film, Katia has also directed several television projects, including “The Return of the Pink Panther” (2006) and “The A-Team” (2010). She also directed a series of commercials for the French fashion house Dior.

In recent years, Katia has been focusing her attention on her own productions. She is currently developing a feature film about the little-known story of the French painter Auguste Renoir.
