Gregory Nicotero is an American actor, director, special effects supervisor and makeup artist. He was born on March 15, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his work on The Walking Dead, The Green Mile and The Hateful Eight.

Nicotero began working in the film industry in 1982, working on the set of the George A. Romero film Creepshow. He then worked as a special effects artist for Romero's subsequent films, Day of the Dead and Monkey Shines. He then went on to work on films such as The Blob, The Witches of Eastwick and Joe Dante's film Matinee.

In the 1990s, Nicotero moved to Los Angeles to work on films such as Judge Dredd, Spawn and Deep Rising. He also worked on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. In 2000, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his makeup work on the TV series The X-Files.

Nicotero then moved into directing, working on shows such as Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. He served as executive producer and special effects supervisor for both shows, and has directed several episodes of The Walking Dead. He also served as executive producer and special effects supervisor for the spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead.

Nicotero has also worked on films such as The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained and The Green Mile. He won an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for his work on The Green Mile.

Nicotero is currently the founder and president of his own special effects company, KNB EFX Group, which has worked on numerous films and television shows. He also serves as an executive producer on the AMC show Preacher.

Throughout his career, Nicotero has won numerous awards, including an Emmy Award, an Academy Award and a Saturn Award. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential makeup and special effects artists in the industry.
