German Lorenzo Roberts



German Lorenzo Roberts (born December 9, 1983) is an award-winning Mexican-American film and television director. Roberts is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed television series Power, as well as his feature film debut, The Short History of the Long Road.

Growing up in San Diego, California, Roberts attended San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, where he developed an interest in filmmaking. He went on to pursue a degree in film from San Diego State University, where he graduated with honors in 2006.

After graduation, Roberts moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in directing. His first major project was the award-winning 2009 short film, The Hands, which followed the life of a teenage boy trying to make his way in the world. The film screened at numerous film festivals around the world, and won several awards, including Best Short Film at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival.

In 2013, Roberts made his feature film debut with the drama The Short History of the Long Road. The film, which stars Sabrina Carpenter, J. Michael Finley, and Steven Ogg, follows a teenage girl and her nomadic father as they travel across the country in search of a new home. The film was a critical success, and received numerous awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the San Diego Film Festival.

Roberts’ next major project was directing multiple episodes of the hit television series Power. The series, which follows the lives of a drug kingpin and his inner circle, earned Roberts an Emmy nomination in 2017.

Since then, Roberts has continued to direct a variety of projects, including multiple episodes of the series The Chi, Narcos: Mexico, Elite, and Snowfall. He also directed the independent film, A Million Little Pieces, which premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.

Throughout his career, Roberts has earned numerous awards and accolades for his work. He is a two-time Emmy Award nominee, and was also awarded the 2018 Directors Guild of America Emerging Directors Award.

Roberts continues to be a powerful voice in the film and television industry, and is committed to telling stories that explore the lives of underrepresented communities.
