Erin Gibson is an American actress, comedian, writer, director, and producer. She is best known for her work on the MTV sketch comedy show "Human Giant" and her podcast "Throwing Shade."

Gibson was born in Los Angeles, California in 1979. She grew up in a creative family and was encouraged to pursue her creative dreams. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz before transferring to the University of Southern California where she studied theatre.

After college, she started her career as a production assistant in Los Angeles. She then moved to New York City and began working at MTV as a production assistant on the show "Human Giant." During this time she also started writing her own material, which led to her becoming a cast member on the show. She left the show in 2007 and began writing and performing her own material.

Gibson then went on to develop her own web series, "Erin Gibson: The Hot Mess Express," which was produced by Funny or Die. She also wrote and produced short films for the channel, including "The Worst Year of My Life," "A Tale of Two Insomnias," and "The Best Year of My Life."

In 2011, Gibson and her writing partner Bryan Safi started the podcast "Throwing Shade," which quickly gained popularity. The show features the two discussing various topics such as politics, pop culture, and LGBT rights. In 2018, the podcast was adapted into a television series which aired on TV Land.

In addition to her work in television and podcasting, Gibson has acted in several films, including "The Hangover Part III," "The Internship," and "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb." She has also written for several TV shows, including "The Mindy Project," "Saturday Night Live," and "The Eric Andre Show."
