Eric Carr (born Paul Charles Caravello; July 12, 1950 – November 24, 1991) was an American rock musician, best known as the drummer for the rock band Kiss from 1980 to 1991.

Carr was born in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in the East New York section of Brooklyn and was the oldest of five siblings. His parents were of Italian descent. He was a self-taught drummer who started playing drums at the age of 8.

In 1978, Carr joined the band Hot Licks under the name Paul Caravello. After the band split up, he began performing in various Kiss tribute bands. In 1980, he was invited to audition for Kiss after Peter Criss left the band. He was selected from a pool of over 100 hopefuls and started performing with Kiss in July 1980.

Carr had a unique style of playing drums, using electronic drums and drum machines. He also sang lead vocals on Kiss songs such as “Dark Light” and “Little Caesar”. He wrote several songs for the band, including “Under the Gun”, “I Still Love You”, and “Tough Love”.

In 1989, Carr was diagnosed with cancer and had to take a break from the band. He underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but the cancer returned in 1991. He died later that year at the age of 41.

Carr was a talented musician and a beloved member of Kiss. He was known for his technical skill on drums, his unique style of play, and his vocal contributions to the band. He was also a kind and generous person, often donating his time and money to causes such as cancer research.
