Ennio De Concini was an Italian actor and director whose career spanned nearly six decades. He was born on October 28, 1914 in Florence, Italy.

He began his career as an actor in the 1930s, appearing in films such as "The Bandit" (1935) and "The Last Days of Pompeii" (1937). He then became a regular in the Italian cinema of the 1940s, appearing in films such as "Gangster Story" (1941), "The Great Adventure" (1942), and "The White Line" (1943). He also acted in the Italian television series "The Return of Sandokan" (1960).

In the 1950s, De Concini began directing, most notably "The House of Ricordi" (1954), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He also directed the classic spaghetti western "A Fistful of Dollars" (1964), which was the first of the "spaghetti western" genre.

In the 1970s, De Concini directed the Italian cult classic "The Conformist" (1970), which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. He also directed the sci-fi thriller "Blade Runner" (1982).

De Concini's work won him numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for his work on "Blade Runner".

De Concini passed away on June 15, 2002 in Rome, Italy at the age of 87. He is remembered as one of the most influential and innovative figures in Italian cinema. His work has had an enduring influence on generations of filmmakers.
