Dominic Gagnon is a filmmaker and an installation and performance artist whose work is grounded in non orthodox images sourced from the Internet. His films question the very specificity of cinema and deliberately disrupt its conceptual and formal boundaries. Through this approach he challenges the institutional and cultural structures that shape how images are produced, circulated and consumed. Since 1996, his work has explored contemporary mythologies, marginal image making and its censorship, and the conditions that mediate the encounter between an artwork and its spectator.
