Diane Chambers is an American actress best known for her role as the lead character in the hit 1980s sitcom Cheers. She was born Diane Natalie Chambers on September 5th, 1948 in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of two professional actors, Robert and Martha Chambers.

Diane was interested in performing from a young age and began to take acting classes in her teens. She excelled in her studies and soon began to appear in a variety of television shows and films, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, and The Love Boat.

In 1982, Diane was cast in the role of Diane Chambers, the intellectual and well-educated waitress at the bar Cheers. She was the perfect foil for the other characters, particularly her love interest, Sam Malone (Ted Danson). Diane and Sam's relationship was a central focus of the show and it was Diane's often-comedic reactions to his antics that made the show so popular.

Diane's career flourished after her time on Cheers, and she appeared in a variety of television shows and films throughout the 1990s and 2000s. She has also been involved in several stage productions, including the Broadway productions of My Fair Lady and Follies.
