Dexter Carr (born July 15, 1967) is an American actor and comedian. He began his career as a stand-up comedian in the early 1990s, touring the U.S. and performing in clubs and theaters across the country. After a few years of stand-up success, he was cast in several small roles in film and television, and then landed his first major role in the 1998 feature film "The Waterboy" starring Adam Sandler.
Carr soon found himself in other comedic roles including the cult classic "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" (2002), and the hit comedy "Old School" (2003). His comedic timing and physical comedy style made him a popular choice for many comedy films over the years.
In 2004, Carr landed a recurring role on the hit sitcom "Friends" playing the role of Phoebe's friend and co-worker, Gary. He played the role for two seasons and earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.
In 2006, Carr had a starring role in the independent film "Ace Ventura: Undercover" alongside Jim Carrey. The film was a huge success and earned him a lot of praise.
In recent years, Carr has been seen in a number of films and television shows. He had a recurring role on the hit TV series "The Big Bang Theory" (2012-2014) as the character of Stuart Bloom. He also appeared in the popular Netflix series "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" as the character of Charles.
Carr is also the co-creator and executive producer of the Netflix original series "Disjointed" (2017-2018), which starred Kathy Bates and is the first show to be released by Chuck Lorre's new production company.
Carr continues to work in television and film, and has recently finished filming the upcoming feature "The Great Outdoors", which will be released in 2019. He is also currently working on a new comedy series with Chuck Lorre. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
