BIO

Davide Ferrario is an Italian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born in Turin, Italy, on October 15, 1958.

Ferrario began his career in the early 1980s as an assistant director, gaining experience in the field before writing and directing his first feature film, “The Winter of Our Discontent” (1983). This film won him much acclaim, and was followed by a string of successful films, such as “The Second Time Around” (1986), “The Sweet Life” (1989), and “The House on the River” (1990).

Ferrario’s films often explore themes of family, morality, and relationships, and have earned him several awards. In 1995, he won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival for “The Promise”, and in 1997, he was awarded the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists Award for Best Director for “The Son’s Room”.

In addition to directing, Ferrario has also served as a producer for several films, including “My Best Enemy” (2002), “The Wedding” (2004), and “The White Space” (2006). He has also written several books, such as “The Breath of Life” (2007) and “The Way of Life” (2009).

Ferrario’s works have been screened in numerous international film festivals, including Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, and Venice. He has also been honored with several awards, including a Golden Globe nomination for “The Son’s Room”, and the Nastro d’Argento for Best Director for “My Best Enemy”.

Ferrario’s latest film, “The Painted Veil” (2009), was released in Italy in 2010 and went on to win several awards, including the Italian Golden Globe for Best Film.
