David Carter is an American actor who has had a long and successful career in the entertainment industry. He has appeared in both television and film, including roles in popular TV shows such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, NYPD Blue, The West Wing, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Carter was born in Buffalo, New York and raised in California. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he studied acting. After completing his degree, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.

Carter made his television debut in 1992, appearing in an episode of the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. After a few guest roles on other shows, he landed his first regular role on the police drama NYPD Blue. He played Detective Bobby Simone for four seasons, earning an Emmy nomination for his work.

In 2002, Carter had a recurring role on the hit political drama The West Wing. He played the role of Brad Wilcox, a White House staffer and political strategist for President Bartlet (Martin Sheen). In 2006, he appeared in an episode of the crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In addition to his television work, Carter has also appeared in several films. His credits include the romantic comedy Just Friends (2005), the drama Hotel for Dogs (2009), and the horror film The Crazies (2010).
