Dave Goldsmith is an American actor and producer who rose to fame for his roles in the films "The Heart of the Sea" and "Divergent". He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1975 and grew up in the small town of Clifton, New Jersey.

Goldsmith attended the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and completed his BFA in Film and Television Production in 1998. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Goldsmith made his debut in the 1999 independent film “The Funeral Home”. Over the next few years, he appeared in a range of films and television shows, including “The West Wing”, “CSI: Miami”, “The Shield”, and “24”.

In 2015, Goldsmith landed his breakthrough role in the action-adventure film “The Heart of the Sea”, playing the role of a sailor who is part of a crew that is shipwrecked off the coast of New Zealand. He earned critical acclaim for his performance and was nominated for several awards, including the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Goldsmith also starred in the science-fiction film “Divergent” in 2014. He played the role of a powerful politician and was praised for his intense performance. In 2017, Goldsmith appeared in the sequel, “Insurgent”, and in “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” in 2016.

Outside of acting, Goldsmith is a successful producer. He produced the independent film “The Ever After” in 2016, and in 2018, he produced the film “The Night of the White Wolves”. Goldsmith is also an active philanthropist and has been involved with several charities, including the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Youth Network.
