Danny Fields is an American music manager and journalist who has been an influential figure in the music industry since the late 1960s. He was born on July 14, 1943 in New York City, and has been involved in music since an early age.

During his high school years, Fields was already promoting concerts and writing articles for various music magazines. After graduating from high school, Fields attended Columbia University, where he majored in English and American Literature.

In 1965, Fields became the assistant to Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman, and soon after, he was tasked with discovering new talent for the label. During this period, Fields discovered and signed the band The Doors, which would become one of the most successful acts in music history. He also signed the group Love, The Stooges, MC5, and many other influential acts.

In the early 1970s, Fields worked for Rolling Stone Magazine, where he wrote several articles about the music industry. He was also responsible for signing the punk group The Ramones to Sire Records in 1975.

Fields also worked as a talent scout for Warner Bros. Records from 1979 to 1984, and during this time, he signed the bands The Go-Go's and Modern English. In 1985, Fields left Warner Bros. and moved to London, where he worked as a music journalist and promoter.

Throughout his career, Fields has also worked with numerous other artists, including Lou Reed, Nico, Iggy Pop, and John Cale. In addition to his work in the music industry, Fields has also written magazine articles and books about his experiences.

In recent years, Fields has also been involved in documentaries about the music industry, such as Danny Says (2015) and Punk: Attitude (2005).

Fields has been an influential and inspiring figure in the music industry for more than 50 years, and has made an indelible mark on the music world. His contributions to the industry have been recognized by numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
